TROY
Ranking: Four stars
Review
The spin-off of Settlers of Catan doesn't work for an odd number of players, unless you use a variant such as the one we describe below. The four star ranking is for the variant.
VARIANTS
Variant for an Odd Number of Players
- During game set-up, shuffle all six allegiance cards and deal one to each player.
- After each battle, give one victory point to each player holding an allegiance card for the winning side, then collect and reshuffle all the cards, and redeal one card to each player. (We use various objects to represent victory points: poker chips will do, as will victory flags from the Seafarers set, or soldiers from the Cities and Knights set.)
- Move the winning city's victory marker as instructed in the scenario's rules, but do not count the city's victory total in the players' victory totals.
